Goodbye 2010. Hello New Decade
2011 is the year to adapt and thrive!

Let’s not beat about the bush. 2010 has been a tough year for many.

The winter didn’t end until March last year, kicked in again in October and businesses have found themselves tightening their belts faster than you can pop in another mince pie.

A new year heralds new opportunities and the chance to reframe how we do business and smarten up our act.

Complaining is always an option, of course but my preferred plan involves relooking at what I do, how others view me and my business and adapting my services to suit the needs of today’s customer.

Does your website work? Really work?
Have you taken a good look at your website recently?

A good website is your gateway to new customers and new markets – but if it isn't loved and cared for, it may not fulfil your expectations.

So how do you know whether it's working (or not)? Do you measure its performance or do you simply rely on the level of footfall as an indicator? Do you update it regularly?

To help answer these questions, here's a lightning look at websites, measurement and why updates matter.

The Day My Laptop Decided Enough is Enough
My mouth dried and my heart quickened. RIP my PC?

If you’re anything like me you probably don’t give much thought to what will happen when your computer won’t work properly.

Scratch that.

You don’t think twice about how you’ll run your business/arrange your social life/keep in touch, without the use of a computer. Well, at least I didn’t, and that’s what happened to me when my laptop decided enough was enough.

Fortunately, the IT Centre was on hand and before I knew it my hard drive was safely housed in an external caddy and I was up and running, meanwhile my laptop was having open heart surgery.

How to Save Money on a New Vehicle
Leasing your next car could save you some serious cash

Leasing a car over a short period of time - typically 2 to 4 years - will almost always work out cheaper than a car loan. This is because you are paying the difference between the sale price and the resale value, rather than paying the full price of the car plus interest.

Car leasing is also a good option for those who don’t have a large sum of cash to use as a down-payment and car financing will place less of a strain on your finances each month as it typically works out cheaper than most purchasing options.

Calling all Owners/Occupiers of Commercial Property
Do you know you have a legal duty to manage asbestos?

Asbestos must be properly managed to prevent illness and, in some cases death.

The following legislations;
• Health & Safety at Work Act
• CAR (The Control of Asbestos Regulations) 2006
• CDM (Construction, Design and Management)
place a duty on those responsible for the maintenance and repair of rented commercial buildings to manage asbestos by having a survey and up to date register in place.

Each week approximately 20 tradesmen die as a result of asbestos and those who fail to comply will be in breach of the law and could face fines and possible imprisonment.
